How Trading Works
Collectales trades run on real cards we physically hold for you — so every swap is safe, verified, and reversible right up until both sides agree. Here's everything, start to finish.
The one rule that matters
You can only trade cards that are physically at Collectales. A card you add to your own collection just marks what's in your own binder — it isn't with us, so it can't be locked or shipped safely, and it can't be traded yet.
Trading the cards in your own binder ("I have it too") isn't live yet — it's too open to abuse. Trust comes from cards we actually hold.
Which cards can you trade?
The cards you can trade come from one of three places:
Open packs on stream
Hits you pull or win during live pack openings drop straight into your inventory — already in our vault and ready to trade.
Send us your binder
Mail your cards to us, or drop them at an upcoming partner point. We store them safely and you can trade them right away.
Buy on the Marketplace
Anything you buy on the Collectales Marketplace is already in custody — tradeable the moment it's yours.
Binder drop-off points and direct shipping are coming soon.
Two ways to trade
Trade with another user
Send a direct offer to any collector: pick what you'll give from your vault and what you want from theirs. Counter back and forth until it's fair for both sides.
Trade with a shop
Shops trade from their own stock against their own rules. The composer checks your offer against those rules live, so you know it'll be accepted before you ever send it.
A trade, step by step
- 01
Build your offer
Choose cards from your vault to give, and the cards you want in return. Only custody cards show up — that's why your own collection won't appear here.
- 02
Send & negotiate
The other side can accept, decline, or counter. Counter-offers go back and forth until you both land on a fair deal.
- 03
Both sides accept
The moment you both confirm, every card in the trade is locked — it can't be sold or used in another offer while the trade is live.
- 04
We verify & swap
Our team verifies the physical cards, then ownership transfers inside each side's vault. Done — no shipping, no risk, no chasing.
How shop trades get accepted
Every shop sets its own trade rules. Before you send, the live preview runs your offer against them — no surprises, no rejected-after-the-fact:
Allowed cards
A shop can block certain rarities, languages, or card conditions.
Value floor
A minimum value per card and a minimum total value for the whole trade.
Trade size
A cap on how many cards can be in a single trade.
Fair balance
Both sides have to balance within the shop's value tolerance.
After a shop trade: where your card goes
Trading with a shop has one extra leg. The card you win is physically at the shop, so it isn't tradeable the instant the trade closes. You have two ways to get it:
Wait for it to reach Collectales
The shop ships your card to Collectales — usually within about a week. The moment it's verified at Collectales it's back in your vault and open to trade, sell, or have delivered to you.
Request it from the shop
Don't want to wait? While the card is still at the shop, you can request a direct hand-over and the shop delivers it straight to you. Once it's in your hands it leaves custody — so it's no longer tradeable, but it's yours right away.
The week is typical, not a fixed deadline — your card unlocks the moment it's verified at Collectales.
Why your cards are safe
Because every tradeable card is already in our vault, nothing leaves anyone's hands on a promise. Cards lock the instant a trade is agreed, our team verifies before any swap, and unaccepted trades can be cancelled anytime.
Tip
Peek at the other side's wishlist before you build an offer — matching what they want gets you a yes much faster.
